The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced major updates to its visa-on-arrival policy for Indian passport holders, making travel more affordable and convenient. The latest changes include expanded eligibility, lower costs, and a streamlined process, benefiting thousands of Indian travelers visiting the UAE.

UAE’s New Visa-on-Arrival Policy for Indian Nationals

Who is Eligible?

Indian nationals can now obtain a 14-day visa-on-arrival in the UAE if they hold a valid visa or residence permit from the following countries:

Singapore
Japan
South Korea
Australia
New Zealand
Canada

This adds to the previous eligibility for Indian passport holders with valid visas or residence permits from:

United States (US Green Card holders)

United Kingdom (UK residence permit holders)

European Union (Schengen Visa holders)

Important Conditions

The visa or residence permit from any of these countries must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in the UAE.

Travelers do not need to apply for a UAE visa in advance—they can get it directly upon arrival at UAE airports.

Visa Fees and Cost Savings for Indian Travelers

Visa-on-Arrival Fees

  • 14-day UAE visa-on-arrival fee: AED 100 (approx. INR 2,250)
  • 14-day visa extension fee: AED 250 (approx. INR 5,625)

Previously, Indian travelers had to apply for a tourist visa before travel, which cost between AED 350–500 (INR 8,000–11,500).

New cost savings: With this update, Indian travelers can save over AED 500 on visa costs!

Initial Stay: 14 days
Extension: 14 more days (once only)
Maximum Stay: 28 days

How to Extend? Travelers can apply online or visit a UAE immigration center to extend their visa-on-arrival.

New Rules for Indian Travelers Staying with Relatives in Dubai

If you are staying with family or relatives in Dubai, you must provide extra documentation:

Host’s Emirates ID copy

Host’s residence visa copy

Host’s rental agreement (Ejari certificate)

Host’s contact details

Why this rule? The UAE introduced this policy to verify accommodation details and prevent visa misuse.

No pre-application is required—just arrive at a UAE airport and apply at the immigration counter.
