Tom Holland Reveals ‘Spider-Man 4’ Title Is ‘Brand New Day’

Late Monday night, March 31, 2025, Sony Pictures finally dropped the title for Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie—and no, it’s not an April Fools’ prank. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was revealed during Sony’s CinemaCon presentation at Caesars Palace, and by Tuesday, April 1, it had fans buzzing, debating, and dissecting every word.

The new film, Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker, hits theaters July 31, 2026. He appeared in a video message around 9:00 PM PST (Tuesday), grinning in a red jacket. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start—I can’t wait for you to see it,” he said, as the bold new red-and-blue logo flashed across the screen.

Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi, also hit the stage. “I just lost $200 at roulette,” he joked, then got serious. “This is a Spider-Man we haven’t seen before—messy, funny, emotional.” He hinted at a new suit in the works and teased an “entirely different Peter Parker.”

The title hit a nerve with comic fans. “Brand New Day” comes from a 2008 Amazing Spider-Man run where Peter’s world resets after a supernatural deal erases his marriage to Mary Jane. It was controversial—but with Peter now forgotten by everyone post-No Way Home, it tracks. He’s back in a Queens apartment, no MJ, no Ned, stitching his own suit again.

Because it dropped right on the edge of April 1, rumors of a prank spread fast—users asked Sony’s, “You pranking us?”. But IGN and Deadline had already confirmed it’s legit. Holland’s video was full-on hype, not tongue-in-cheek. Cretton’s tease, plus Zendaya and Sadie Sink’s confirmed roles, made it clear: this isn’t a joke.

Filming starts this summer. Zendaya is back as MJ, and Sink—cast March 12—is rumored to be playing Felicia Hardy (Black Cat?). This is Cretton’s first Spidey flick, stepping in for Jon Watts, who directed the last three. Positioned between Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026) and Secret Wars (May 7, 2027), it’s likely Peter will swing through some major MCU shakeups.

With No Way Home’s $1.9 billion box office and Holland reportedly bouncing around his living room last fall reading the script, Brand New Day looks real—and ready.
