Rosie O’Donnell Leaves the U.S. for Ireland After Trump’s Return to Power

Rosie O’Donnell has officially left the United States, confirming that she has relocated to Ireland following Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The actress, comedian, and longtime Trump critic made the revelation in a TikTok video, stating that she made the move just days before Trump’s second inauguration in January.

“Ireland has been so welcoming, and it’s been wonderful for my peace of mind,” O’Donnell, 62, shared. She added that she is in the process of applying for Irish citizenship, citing her ancestral roots in the country.

Rosie O’Donnell vs. Trump: A Feud That Never Ends

O’Donnell’s decision to leave the U.S. is the latest chapter in her long-running public feud with Trump, which dates back to 2006 when she criticized him on The View. Trump repeatedly targeted O’Donnell over the years, calling her “a fat loser” and attacking her career.

During Trump’s first presidency, O’Donnell was one of his loudest celebrity critics, frequently speaking out on social media and at protests. She even joined a Broadway-style anti-Trump protest outside the White House in 2018, leading chants with fellow entertainers.

Now, with Trump back in power, she says she couldn’t stay in the U.S. any longer.

“Protect your sanity. Do what you need to do. That’s what I did.”

O’Donnell also brought her 12-year-old daughter, Dakota, with her to Ireland but noted that she misses her other children and close friends back in the U.S.

Will Rosie Ever Return to the U.S.?

Despite feeling at home in Ireland, O’Donnell hinted that she might consider moving back to the U.S. in the future—but only under one condition:

“I’ll come back when it’s safe for all citizens to have equal rights.”

Her statement reflects her concerns over Trump’s policies on LGBTQ+ rights, women’s healthcare, and civil liberties.

Celebrities Fleeing Trump’s America?

O’Donnell isn’t the only celebrity to leave the U.S. following Trump’s election victory.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi reportedly relocated abroad, citing political stress.
Barbara Streisand had previously said she would move to Canada if Trump won in 2016.
Cher, another outspoken Trump critic, has hinted at moving overseas if policies worsen.

O’Donnell’s move raises the question—will more celebrities follow suit?

Rosie’s New Life in Ireland

For now, O’Donnell appears to be embracing her fresh start in Ireland. She has been sharing videos from her new home, engaging with fans, and talking about how the Irish people have welcomed her with open arms.

“Ireland is beautiful, the people are kind, and I feel at peace here.”

As for her future career, it’s unclear if she will continue working in entertainment from abroad, but one thing is certain—her feud with Trump isn’t over, even from across the Atlantic.
