Vatican City – Pope Francis, aged 88, continues to be in critical condition at Rome's Gemelli Hospital, exhibiting early signs of kidney failure, as confirmed by the Vatican. Despite the severity of his health issues, the pontiff remains alert and has been participating in Mass from his hospital room.

The Vatican's latest update indicates that Pope Francis is battling double pneumonia and a complex lung infection, leading to early-stage kidney failure. He is receiving high-flow oxygen therapy to assist with breathing. Blood tests have revealed mild kidney failure, but doctors report that it is currently under control. Additionally, his previously low platelet count has stabilized following blood transfusions. The medical team describes his clinical condition as complex, and the prognosis remains cautious.
