Police Officer Shot Near UMBC Campus, Suspect Arrested

A police officer was shot near the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) campus in Catonsville on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 3 p.m. near the Wilkens Precinct on the 900 block of Walker Avenue.

Baltimore County Police quickly responded to the scene and confirmed the shooting through a social media post, stating that additional details would be shared as the investigation continues.

UMBC officials sent an alert to students and staff, warning them to stay away from the area due to heavy police activity. However, the university assured that the suspect had already been taken into custody.

The injured officer was immediately transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment. The current condition of the officer remains unknown.

 

Authorities have not yet released the suspect's identity or any details about what led to the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.
