HP to Build PCs in Saudi Arabia, Invests in AI Research

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – February 10, 2025 – HP, the global tech giant, has announced major investments in Saudi Arabia, including a new PC manufacturing center in Riyadh and an AI research facility in Dhahran.

Speaking at Leap 2025, Saudi Arabia’s annual global tech event, HP CEO Enrique Lores said,
"We want to be the first company to build PCs in Saudi Arabia. We will start with desktops this year and expand over time."

What’s in the Plan?

  • Manufacturing in Riyadh: HP will produce PCs, printers, and other computer devices in a new factory as part of the "Made in Saudi" initiative.
  • AI & R&D Center in Dhahran: HP will invest in a cutting-edge research center focusing on AI, data analytics, and automation, with an emphasis on Arabic language AI models for sectors like healthcare and energy.
  • Job Creation: The project is expected to create thousands of jobs for locals by 2027.
  • Education & Skills Development: HP is supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by investing in education and training programs, including the HP Gaming Garage Lab at Saudi Electronic University and online courses awarding microdegrees.

Saudi Arabia: A New Tech Hub?

HP’s investment is part of a wider trend as Saudi Arabia positions itself as a technology and manufacturing hub.

  • Lenovo & Alat: The companies are building a massive manufacturing facility in Riyadh to produce millions of Saudi-made laptops, desktops, and servers. The $2 billion project will create up to 15,000 jobs.
  • Dell: The company has launched a fulfillment center in Dammam to handle up to 600,000 units per year and customize AI-powered servers.

According to Lores, Saudi Arabia is strategically located at the intersection of Africa, Europe, and Asia, making it an ideal place for tech expansion.

"The transformation happening in Saudi Arabia is making it a much more attractive place for global businesses like ours to invest," he added.
