Dubai Police Arrest Two for Impersonating Officers in Dh10 Million Heist

Swift Action by Dubai Police Leads to Arrests and Recovery Efforts

Dubai Police have arrested two individuals who impersonated law enforcement officers and stole Dh10 million from a trading company in a meticulously planned heist. The suspects, posing as police officials, tricked the firm’s employees into handing over the substantial amount before making their escape.

However, swift action by Dubai Police’s elite crime unit led to their identification and arrest, and efforts are currently underway to recover the stolen funds.

How the Heist Was Executed

The two criminals approached the trading company’s office in Dubai under the guise of conducting an official investigation.

They dressed in police uniforms and flashed fake credentials to convince employees they were part of an ongoing financial probe. Using their fake authority, they demanded access to the firm’s funds and coerced staff into handing over the Dh10 million.

Once they secured the money, the suspects fled the premises, leaving the company in shock.

Dubai Police's Immediate Response

As soon as Dubai Police received a complaint from the company, they launched an intensive investigation.

Authorities used surveillance footage and forensic evidence to identify the suspects. Within hours, the suspects were tracked down and arrested. Dubai Police have confirmed that they are working to recover the stolen funds and return them to the affected business.

Police officials have reiterated their zero-tolerance approach to crimes involving impersonation and fraud, urging businesses to always verify identities before complying with demands from supposed officials.

Similar Cases of Fraud in the UAE

This is not the first time criminals have used police impersonation as a tactic to commit fraud in the UAE.

In a previous case in Ras Al Khaimah, three suspects were arrested for possessing $7.5 million in counterfeit currency, which they planned to distribute within the country.

Authorities have issued several warnings in the past about criminals who pose as law enforcement officers to carry out robberies and financial fraud.

Dubai Police Warn Public Against Impersonation Crimes

Following this case, Dubai Police have issued new warnings to businesses and individuals:

  • Always verify police identities – Genuine officers will have official badges and ID cards that can be confirmed by contacting Dubai Police directly.
  • Report any suspicious behavior immediately to authorities.
  • Never hand over money without proper verification, even if someone claims to be an official authority.

Dubai has one of the most advanced surveillance and law enforcement systems in the world, making it extremely difficult for criminals to escape justice.
