Abu Dhabi Enhances Sir Bani Yas Airport with Runway Expansion and Lighting Upgrades

Abu Dhabi Airports has completed a significant rehabilitation project at Sir Bani Yas Airport (XSB), focusing on expanding the runway and upgrading lighting systems to bolster safety and operational efficiency. 

 

Key Enhancements:

  • Runway Expansion: The runway has been widened to accommodate Code 4E aircraft, facilitating the handling of larger aircraft and supporting the growing demand for tourism in the Al Dhafra Region. 

  • Lighting System Overhaul: The airport's lighting infrastructure has been completely revitalized, transitioning to high-performance LED technology. This upgrade enhances night operations and improves visibility for ground personnel, aligning with sustainability initiatives. 

Additional Upgrades:

  • Weather Observation System: The weather observation systems have been upgraded to state-of-the-art technology, ensuring more accurate and timely weather information to assist in operational planning and safety protocols. 

  • Service and Emergency Roadways: New service and emergency roadways have been constructed, providing enhanced access during urgent situations.
